Entry 6 Using Podcast and Digital Story Telling in Language Learning

In this entry, i am going to share about a new topic that i have learnt in class which is Using Podcast and Digital Story Telling in Language Learning.



Podcast


Basically, podcast is a digital audio file which are video or mp3 made available on the internet for downloading to a computer or a mobile device. Podcast has a lot of advantages such as it help the students to learn language anytime anywhere as long as the students have computer or mobile phones and internet connection. Therefore, students do not need to go out and search for learning materials. Besides, podcast is also good to train students listening skill in learning language. Since English language is our second language, students need a lot of practice and exercise in order to master the English proficiency.Therefore, learning trough podcast is highly recommended because the students will be able to learn and train their listening skill as much as they want.

In the class, i have learnt a new thing that i have never learnt and experienced before which was to search for audio books online. The step was very simple, first, go to Google.com and search "Soundcloud" and then click on the first website.


Then, once we connected to the "Souncloud" official website, click the bottom "Explore our top 50"

After that, click on "All music genres" and search for "audiobooks". isn't that easy and interesting?




During the class, we were required to create our own podcast and publish it on the broadcast which is "soundcloud" website. Our podcast is aimed to train audiences' listening skill. we were allowed to choose our topic either story telling, review or more. in this assignment, i decided to choose story telling because i found it interesting. Before we start our task, my lecturer taught us step by step on how to start creating our podcast. The steps required were to record our own audio, and then, edit the audio to make it sound clearer or to add sound effects to make it more interesting and upload it on podcast. Besides, my lecturer also taught us on how to edit our audio in  our computer using "Audacity" software.

In conclusion, even though making a podcast seems easy, but actually it is difficult because during the audio editing process requires us to be fully focus and aware of every single thing in the audio in order to make it successful.
